Possible treatments for tinnitus:

Tinnitus is the perception of sound when no actual external noise is present.  Tinnitus can be described as ringing, buzzing, hissing, humming, swooshing or clicking. Some potential treatment options are listed below:

  • Removing impacted earwax
  • Treating underlying vascular conditions with medication or surgery.
  • Changing your medication
  • A white noise machine or masking devices that produce a continuous, low-level noise
  • Hearing aids may have masking programs
  • Tinnitus retraining therapy: A wearable device delivers individually programmed tonal music to mask the specific frequencies of the tinnitus you experience. Over time, this technique may accustom you to the tinnitus, thereby helping you not to focus on it. Counseling is often a component of tinnitus retraining.

Medications:

Drugs can't cure tinnitus, but they may help reduce the severity of symptoms. Always check with your physician before staring any new medications.

  • Antidepressants
  • Anti-anxiety drugs
  • Steroids
  • Lipo-Flavonoid
