Hearing aids are comprised of tiny electrical components that may experience wear and tear over time. If this is the case, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with us to have the problem assessed. Whether it’s simply due to aging or the units have been exposed to moisture, excessive wax, debris or physical damage, one of our doctors of audiology can evaluate the extent of repairs needed.
Common hearing Aid issues
Things do happen, even when the hearing aids are properly cared for. If you should experience an issue that requires a repair, give our office a call to make an appointment to bring the aids in to the office. We are equipped and trained to evaluate and diagnose broken hearing aids. Some minor hearing aid repairs can be done in the office setting in a short period of time; others may need to be sent to the manufacturer for repair. Our doctors will help determine what kind of a repair is necessary if you feel your hearing aid is not working properly. Our hearing professionals will work as a liaison between you and the manufacturer should it require being sent away, to ensure you are up-to-date and know when you’ll be getting your aids back.
Hearing Aid purchased elsewhere
If you have hearing aids that were not purchased in our office, we are happy to try to help repair your hearing aids. We are able to service several major manufacturers of hearing aids and can advise you as to whether yours is a brand we service. Hearing aids come with a warranty when purchased new. If your warranty has expired, it is still possible to repair most hearing aids for a small fee depending on the extent of the repair and the age of the hearing aid. Depending on the manufacturer, this repair may come with a new warranty. In the event your hearing aid is severely damaged and unable to be repaired, our professionals will work with you to determine what aids would be best for your current needs. Our hearing professional will provide you with details when you bring your hearing aid into the office. It’s always best to call the office to schedule an appointment to be sure we can service your make and model of hearing aid.
Hearing Aid maintenance
One easy way to keep your hearing aids in good working order is by properly caring for and maintaining them. This means cleaning them daily with a dry cloth, opening the battery doors at night to turn them off, and examining them periodically for any scratches, cracks or damages. Our practice recommends routine check ups every six months to keep your hearing aid in good working order.
Hearing Aid loss and damage warranty
Our hearing aids come with a repair and loss/damage warranty. If your aids are lost we can file a lost damage claim, if eligible, for your replacement aid through the manufacturer.
Contact our office for an appointment any time you discover your aid is not working properly or has been damaged.
